A memory care home built around a courtyard.

509 T is a Residential Care Facility for the Elderly in Southside Park, designed from the outset to specialize in memory care. Every decision starts with the courtyard at its center: the garden is visible from the common rooms, circulation loops back on itself so a walk always returns somewhere familiar, and residents can step outside on their own.

Daylight does the rest of the work. Tall, light-filled common rooms and private rooms that open directly to the garden keep the rhythm of the day legible. Warm timber throughout, at the scale of a house rather than an institution.
